🎨 MISCHA’S MUSINGS: Entry Three — Wet Blends and Whispered Plans

The paint still smells faintly of copper. The palette’s cluttered with half-thoughts and colour shifts. And somewhere, under the desk, Luna is sharpening her claws on a discarded sprue.

It’s been a good couple of weeks.

🌈 New Tricks, Old Magic

I’ve been testing a few new techniques lately, and it's brought a fresh hum to the hobby desk. Most recently: Contrast paints mixed with glazing medium. A simple tweak, really—but the moment they started behaving like controlled washes instead of caffeinated water, something clicked. Layered depth. Control. Subtlety. Actual glazing. Who knew?

And then, an old friend returned: TMM. That’s True Metallic Metal, for the uninitiated. I'd drifted from it, lost in the siren song of NMM and filters. But I found myself genuinely enjoying metallics again—thanks to AK 3rd Gen paints, which catch the light like the forge-gods intended. It made painting this latest historical figure a joy rather than a chore.

“Sometimes, the brush just knows where it wants to go.” —Old painter proverb (probably Luna)

🧵 Progress Report: Krieg and Creeps

Meanwhile, the 143rd Siege Regiment creeps ever closer to completion. The Death Korps of Krieg horses are… testy. They don’t like to be rushed. But with a bit of makeup sponge weathering, some wet blending, and many whisper-thin fine lines, the entire regiment is starting to breathe.

They’ve got a look now.
Wet-blended blue tunics, glowing pink eyes, and that slightly haunted vibe—like they walked out of a gas-lit fever dream.

Once complete, the painted box, plus three squads of infantry, will be up for sale at the Bazaar in full 143rd colours.

💜 Slaanesh on the Horizon (and Maybe a Venomcrawler)

Next in line? The Slaanesh Army Box. I’m debating adding a Venomcrawler, plus a unit of traitor guard and cultists, to really flesh out the theme. Something decadent. Dangerous. Themed, but playable. I’ll finish the Krieg first and see where the wind—and the brushes—take me.

🐺 New Stock Whispers

And speaking of the wind—new stock is coming to the Bazaar soon! I’ve got a shipment from Journeyman Miniatures on the way, including their brand-new Wolf Rider and other gorgeous sculpts. These pieces are dripping with narrative potential—can’t wait to get them up in the store.

Sadly, the Spira models sold out quicker than expected. (Thank you, you mad miniature-loving gremlins.) But there are still a few Kimera kits tucked safely away in the shelves, ready to make someone’s hobby table a little stranger.

🐾🐾 Final Notes from the Nest

It feels good to make again—not just paint, but build momentum. Even small breakthroughs in technique carry a kind of quiet triumph. And every figure tells a tale, whether it’s carrying a spear, a brush, or the future of a regiment on its back.

Thanks for following along. Whether you're here for tutorials, tales, or just a peek at what Luna knocked over this week—the Bazaar’s always open.
